Rob Kowal is the founder, original host and now executive producer of SPORTSTALK1240. Rob has also hosted NY Hockey Talk at WGBB, where he interviewed and profiled a wide range of professional hockey players and announcers from New York and beyond, including Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Mike Gartner, Brendan Shanahan, Mike Emrick, and Sam Rosen.
Since starting SPORTSTALK1240 and hosting the first-ever broadcast in January of 2007 (which claims Boomer Esiason as the show’s first guest), Rob has held several key positions at WGBB, both behind the scenes and behind the mic. While Rob still finds his way onto the air from time to time, he now devotes most of his energy producing and marketing the show, updating the new SPORTSTALK1240 website, and maintaining their presence on a wide variety of social media channels. Rob also spends time shooting some of the photography for both SPORTSTALK1240 and WGBB.
In addition to his work in sports broadcasting, Rob also works for Canon USA, marketing their professional products. He plays for and manages his Beavers Softball team, is an avid ice hockey player with the Long Island Dragons, enjoys photography, and shot a documentary entitled The Beavers: More Than a Softball Team.
Rob is a graduate of Hofstra University, and resides in Massapequa, NY.
