Hosts Gary Harding and John Panarese begin by welcoming Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, the lead announcer for the National Hockey League’s national telecasts on NBC. Emrick talks about some surprises of the NHL season so far, gives his thoughts on both the Devils and Rangers, the Winter Classic, the recent Panthers/Capitals 20 round shootout, and possible alternatives to the NHL’s Overtime/Shootout format- such as 3 on 3 play.
In the second half of the show, Gary and John welcomed Shannon Hogan, MSG’s new pre-game host on Islanders game broadcasts. Shannon talked about the past four years she was with Fox Sports Detroit covering the Red Wings, Tigers, and Pistons, along with college hockey and other sporting events in the area. Shannon then spoke about the Islanders start to the season, and gave us a few Islanders locker room tidbits. We also learn about Shannon’s love for swimming and more.
Gary and John closed things out touching on the rumors linking the Mets to Troy Tulowitzki, the Yankees recent moves, and finally some New Year’s resolutions and holiday wishes.
